South Africa’s COVID-19 death toll surpasses 18,000 mark

COVID-19 related deaths in South Africa have passed the 18,000 mark, this is according to the Department of Health.

The death toll in the country now stands at 18,028. Over 1,100 new cases have been identified since the last report.

That brings the total number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa to 694, 537, but with a recovery rate of 90-percent, there are just over 50,000 active cases in the country.
