S. Africa reports 2,055 new COVID-19 cases, 85 deaths

South Africa’s COVID-19 death toll increased by 85 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 related deaths in the country to 15, 857.

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases is 657 627 with 2,055 new cases in the last 24 hours.

The recovery rate is now 89.2-percent which translates to 586, 844 people who have recovered from the virus.

For the past six weeks, South Africa has been experiencing a decline in cases, recording less than 2,000 daily infections.

Two months ago, it was recording about 12,000 cases daily.
