Rwanda has collaborated with the African Development Bank (AfDB) to launch an aviation training institute.

The Centre of Excellence for Aviation Skills (CEAS) was launched on February 14. The $26.6 million project will be implemented over five years and will build a skilled workforce as per international aviation standard.

The institute will offer courses like maintenance training, pilot training, cabin crew, aeronautical meteorological services, and communication navigation.

CEAS will also partner with institutions of higher learning to provide aviation courses and work with international accrediting bodies to offer certification.

The training facility, expected to be completed in 24 months, will carter for a maximum of 490 students.

The project will also see the setting up of an aircraft hangar at the Kigali International Airport.
