Nkana moved to the top of the MTN/FAZ Zambian Super League following a 3-0 win over ZANACO at the Nkana Stadium in Kitwe on Wednesday.

Second half goals from Simon Mulenga, Kelvin Kampamba and Idris Mbombo gave the 12-time champions an easy victory which saw them ascend to the top with 46 points ahead of Forest Rangers, who have a game in hand, on goal difference (+14 compared to +13). ZANACO, champions in 2016, meanwhile, remains in 10th position with 35 points.

Forest Rangers and ZANACO were due to play the first game of the league’s restart but the match was postponed after some of Rangers players and staff tested positive for COVID-19.

In the other match, Buildcon was awarded a 3-0 victory over Nakambala Leopards, who failed to show up for the match in Ndola.

Leopards, who have not held a training session since March, when the league was suspended, had hinted that they would not show up for the game due to COVID-19 fears.

As a result, Buildcon climbed up to 13th with 29 points, 12 clear of Leopards who are third from bottom with 17 points.
