Nigerian Tobi Amusan successfully defended her 100m hurdles at the African Games winning the final in a time of 12.89 seconds at the University of Ghana on Wednesday.

Amusan finished ahead of Sidonie Fiadanantsoa of Madagascar (13.19 seconds) and Zimbabwe’s Ashley Miller (13.59 seconds).

Victory for Amusan, the current record holder, also saw her claim a hat-trick of titles in the event following wins in 2015 in Congo-Brazzaville and 2019 in Rabat, Morocco.

Amusan now has two gold medals from the Games after she anchored the women’s sprint team to win the women’s 4x100m relay in 43.05 seconds. Nigeria’s time was just outside their Games record by just 0.01 seconds.
