IGAD Drought Resilience Summit

An Intergovernmental Authority on Development, IGAD conference is underway in Kampala, Uganda. IGAD members are meeting to discuss ways of mitigating extreme weather and food security in the Region. On the Agenda is a 15-year investment plan to mitigate drought emergencies and a possible merger of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development with the East African Community block. The member countries hope to unite and fast-track development in the Region by forming an African power bloc stretching from Sudan to Tanzania.
