Read < 1 minute

Head of Military Intelligence in the Democratic Republic of Congo, General Delphin Kahimbi  was found dead on Friday morning this at his Kokolo Camp home before his third hearing before the National Security Council (CNS).

Reports indicate that it is likely a case of suicide. He was suspended from his duty this week but the military  did not officially announce anything with regards to that.

One of Joseph Kabila’s relatives, Delphin Kahimbi, he remained chief of military intelligence despite the coming to power of Félix Tshisekedi, like most of the heads of the security services.

The deceased was not the only general to have been summoned, but his suspension caused  a stir social media networks.

The United States was probably the quickest to respond, even before the official announcement. The information went very quickly, from the ambassador in Kinshasa to the Secretary of State for Africa who on Twitter said he was delighted to ” see the government of the DRC take measures to end the impunity ”.
