Ghanaian and Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew announced on Sunday that he had tested positive for coronavirus and was currently in quarantine.

Ayew did not feature for Palace in their 1-1 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

Ayew wrote on Twitter that he was “feeling fine” and did not have any symptoms.

“Sadly, I have tested positive for Covid-19 & have begun my quarantine in line with the health guidance,” he wrote.

“I will be cheering the boys on from home & look forward to being back on the pitch soon. Stay safe,” he added.

Palace manager Roy Hodgson confirmed the 29-year-old returned a positive test after he had been away on international duty with Ghana.

“Unfortunately, he tested positive in our last test on Friday for COVID. He had been away with Ghana, which we weren’t exactly delighted to have, but accepted he had to do,” Hodgson said after Sunday’s game.

“Like several other Ghanaian players, I believe, when they went back to their clubs, they also tested positive. And now we have to follow the guidelines before we see him again.”

Palace will next play their next two games away to Fulham at Craven Cottage on October 24 then against Wolves at Molineux on October 30.
