Chad embassy in Doha closed, gives staff 72 hours to leave
Media reports in Qatar say the country’s government has decided to shut down the embassy of Chad in Doha, giving diplomats and other staff members 72 hours to leave.
This follows a similar move by Chad, which ordered the closure of Qatar’s embassy in the capital N’Djamena. Qatari diplomats in Chad were given 10 days to leave.
Chad has accused Qatar of seeking to destabilize the central African country, though the Qatari government says the allegations are baseless, adding that there was an ulterior motive to Chad’s move.
Qatar is involved in a standoff with four Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, over allegations that Doha supports terrorism. The Qatari government has however denied these charges.
Chad did not provide any details to support the accusation that Doha was trying to destabilize it through Libya.
