Angolan President Joao Lourenco on Wednesday inaugurated an agricultural tractor assembly plant at Luanda’s Special Economic Zone (ZEE) financed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The tractor’s assembly factory has an annual production capacity of 3,000 units, according to the UAE’s 65 million U.S. dollars investment agreement with Angola.

The factory, the first of its kind in Angola, kicked off operation in the first half of this year, with more than 80 percent of the workforce being Angolans.

According to Angola’s Secretary of State for Industry, Ivan do Prado, the country has spent more than 3 million U.S. dollars importing agricultural tractors from 2017 to 2020.
