Read < 1 minute

Burkina Faso’s regional public prosecutor, Aly Benjamin Coulibaly on Sunday said approximately 170 people were “executed” in attacks on three villages in the northern region of the country a week ago.

In a statement, Coulibaly said he received reports of the attacks on the villages of Komsilga, Nodin and Soroe in Yatenga province, with a preliminary toll of “around 170 people executed.”

Survivors of the attacks said dozens of women and young children were among the victims.

These attacks also resulted in injuries to others and material damage.

The public prosecutor’s office has dispatched investigators on Thursday to find out facts and gather evidence, Coulibaly said.
