Read < 1 minute

Today, marks the international water day and there are growing concerns over the extremely high levels of water stress.

In a report, the UN Children’s Fund has warned that some 600 million children worldwide will be living with extremely limited water resources by 2040.

It’s also concerned over hundreds of children dying every day from diseases linked to unsafe water and sanitation.

The report cited climate change and conflict as factors intensifying risks to children living without enough water.

Governments are now urged to prioritize the most vulnerable children’s access to safe water. The demand for water currently exceeds the renewable supply available in 36 countries.
