Defending league champions Wydad Athletic failed to take full advantage of one of its games in hand after drawing 1-1 at home with Mouloudia Oujda in a top-of-the-table clash on Thursday.

Wydad though were lucky to get a point out of the game after they trailed their opponents for much of the second half.

The lively match at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca saw the visitors dominate possession but the home side registered more attempts on goal. Both goalkeepers were called into action on at least four occasions but Oujda’s keeper was the busier of the two.

Ivorian Chieck Comara popped up with an 88th minute equalizer to cancel out a strike by Noah Sadaoui two minutes before halftime.

Following the result, Wydad remained top of the table on 37 points, two clear of Oujda who have played a game more. FUS Rabat is third, level on points with Oujda but has an inferior goal difference.
