Vote counting is still on in the Central African Republic after the country’s voters went to the ballot with hopes of peace and stability after years of violence.

The national electoral authority said that the voting process went fine without any hitches, and no case violence was reported.

The African Union (AU) observation mission head also said that no major issues were witnessed.

Some voters and candidates however reportedly lamented the missing of their manes from the ballots, and some materials were not available.

The winner of the elections will take over from the transitional government that has been in place since 2014.

More than 1.8 million people were registered to vote at more than 500 polling stations nationwide. United Nations peacekeepers and national security forces provided security at polling stations.
