Read < 1 minute

UN

Illegal cargo seized by the Kenya security last week at Mombasa Port on a cargo ship has been claimed by the United Nations. The UN has stated that the weapons found were legal and being transported to the Democratic Republic of Congo for the peace mission in the country. The UN has rejected knowledge of the drugs found on board.

Kenyan authorities and ship with Norwegian origins have said the weapons were not declared. The Kenyan police is still running drug tests on a substance found around some of the UN armored vehicles being transported by the ship.

Mombasa-ship

United Nations has expressed displeasure over Kenyan Police breaking procedure by inspecting cargo without a UN representative present.

The ship has been held at the port for eight days now. 20 crew members aboard the MV Hoegh transporter are currently being detained in Mombasa.
