Read < 1 minute

The United Nations has recommended the deployment of nearly 12,000 peacekeepers in the Central African Republic, to re-establish order. The recommendation was included in a report from UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, to the 15-nation Security Council. Ban Ki-Moon said the peacekeeping mission should focus in the initial stage on the protection of civilians. He has previously warned that the violence could spiral into genocide. He also warned that a “de facto partition” of the country could setting in.
