Four cross-border cargo truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19 in Uganda Tuesday, taking the countrywide total of COVID-19 infections to 126, the health ministry said in a statement.

Out of the 1,478 samples collected from truck drivers, four tested positive for the novel coronavirus, said the statement.

The new cases include two Ugandans and a Kenyan driver who arrived in the country through South Sudan’s border checkpoint Elegu, and a Tanzanian driver who entered through the Tanzanian border checkpoint Mutukula, it said.

“All 233 community samples have tested negative for COVID-19,” the statement added.

Of the 126 confirmed COVID-19 cases, at least 55 have recovered, according to the ministry.
