Two pilots were killed on Thursday after a light aircraft crashed on landing at Gouna Airport on the Red Sea coast in Egypt.
A statement from the civil aviation ministry said that the plane, a two-seater private tour plane, crashed while on a test flight. The plane was registered to Airman Sky Sports.
Local media reported that the two succumbed to their wounds after four civil defense vehicles were deployed with personnel to the scene to treat them.
The ministry ordered the creation of a special committee to investigate the accident and establish the reasons behind the crash.
Egypt’s public prosecutor also ordered an investigation into the incident after dispatching investigators to the scene of the crash.
Egypt’s aviation industry has witnessed some high profile incidents in the past few years.
Four years ago, an EgyptAir plane carrying 66 people from the French capital Paris to Cairo crashed into the Mediterranean.
A year earlier, 224 people were killed after Islamic State militants bombed a Russian airliner.
