Tributes continue to flow following the death of former U.S. President George H.W. Bush.
According to his spokesperson, Bush died on Friday night at the age of 94.
Bush served two terms as vice president under President Ronald W. Reagan, before later serving a single term as president from 1989 to 1993. He also served as the CIA director in the ’70s.
His death comes just months after his wife, Barbara, died on April 17 at the age of 92.
Bush is survived by his five children, 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was only the second person in U.S. history to see his own son follow in his presidential footsteps when George W. Bush was elected in 2000.
George W. Bush led the tributes following the death of his father, describing him as “a man of the highest character”.
“The entire Bush family is deeply grateful for 41’s life and love, for the compassion of those who have cared and prayed for Dad, and for the condolences of our friends and fellow citizens,” George W. Bush said in a statement.

Barack Obama, the 44th president of the U.S., also send his condolence message to the Bush family, calling the late former president a “humble servant.”

Current President Donald Trump also honored the late George H. W. Bush.
“President George H.W. Bush led a long, successful and beautiful life. Whenever I was with him I saw his absolute joy for life and true pride in his family. His accomplishments were great from beginning to end. He was a truly wonderful man and will be missed by all!”
Among other leaders, French President Emmanuel macron also sent his condolence message following President George H.W. Bush’s death.
