Too short? Twitter users angered by jail term handed to Pistorius for killing girlfriend
South African Paralympian Oscar Pistorius has today been sentenced to six years in prison for the 2013 murder of his girlfriend Reeva Stenkamp.
The state and a large section of the public had called for the 29-year-old to be handed no less than the minimum 15-year term as prescribed by the law, saying he had shown no remorse for the killing.
The athlete was found guilty of murdering Steenkamp by an appeals court last December.
He has initially received a five-year sentence for manslaughter in 2014, a ruling dismissed by women’s groups as too lenient.
Following the latest ruling, South Africans and the other people across the world expressed their disappointment on social media, saying Pistorius deserved to receive the 15-year sentence and no less.
Here are some of the comments made on twitter after the ruling;
#OscarPistorius got off way too easy. 6 years? Just not right. There really is no justice.

The outcome of the #OscarPistorius case is a disgrace. Disgusting outcome that has demonstrated little or no regard for a woman's life.

He killed his girlfriend yet he'll be a free man by the time he's 35 with his whole life ahead. What a joke, seriously #OscarPistorius
