Tanzania plans to industrialize Dodoma city more in the next five years
Tanzania is planning to construct a logistic centre and a leather industrial park in its capital Dodoma in the next five years.
“The trade and logistic centre will provide modern, high quality storage, office spaces and rental sales spaces something which will surely change the face of the region” Said Dr. Philip Mpango, the Minister for Finance and Planning while presenting the Second National Five Year Development Plan in parliament
The government plans toad value to cattle hides in order to benefit livestock keepers in the country with the construction of the leather industrial park.
AS part of implementation of the Second Five-Year Development Plan (FYDP II), the government has pledged to provide capital to local investors to establish factories — to realise the industrialisation agenda as stipulated in the plan, the Prime Minister, Mr Kassim Majaliwa, announced yesterday reports Tanzania’s Daily News.
The Minister also said that the government will provide support for local investors in the establishment of small, medium and large scale factories to create jobs. He added that although the economy was doing well especially the construction, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), finance and insurance, mining and quarrying, there are over 10.7 million of Tanzanians living below the poverty line. Thus the government will give support to sectors with the potential of employing many people and generate revenues, such as agriculture, manufacturing, fishing and livestock keeping.
