Many people in Africa may not be aware of the concept of artificial intelligence, or simply AI. Yet AI, according to the Brookings Institute, is already transforming every aspect of our lives.
So rapid and fundamental are the changes that the involvement of AI in our day-to-day activities— some known, and others unknown to us—is beginning to raise pertinent questions for society. This week on the program we look at the benefits of AI for Africa, but also examine its likely long-term negative impact on livelihoods through loss of jobs, and why it’s critical to regulate the use of this technology.
