Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa concluded his state visit to China at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, marking his first state visit outside Africa as Zimbabwean president since taking office last November.
The five-day trip elevated the bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, and cemented a wide range of agreements, covering infrastructure, agriculture, investment and industrial capacity building.
So why does President Mnangagwa choose China for his first state visit outside Africa?And how will this trip help Zimbabwe leapfrog 18 years of isolation to become a middle-income country by 2030?
