Talk Africa: Belt and Road Initiative in Africa
The Second Belt and Road Forum has just concluded in Beijing and it brought together leaders from around the world to exchange ideas on future cooperation plans between China and other Belt and Road partners.
The Belt and Road initiative is a development strategy initially launched in 2013 by China’s President Xi Xinping. The initiative is an effort to improve regional cooperation and connectivity on a trans-continental scale. There are numerous ongoing Belt and Road projects in Africa such as railways, ports, bridges and roads.
This week, on this special edition of Talk Africa, we take a closer look at some of the outcomes of the 2019 forum and what the Belt and Road Initiative means for Africa.
