South African lock Jason Jenkins joined Super Rugby side Vodacom Bulls on a short-term loan from Japanese Top League side Toyota Verblitz.

The Bulls confirmed Jenkins, who can play in the second or back row, will be available for the upcoming South African domestic rugby competition.

“Jenkins’ return adds more beef to the lock forwards as this behemoth weighs 122kg and stands at 2.01m. Aline this with his dynamic skill set and physicality between the lines, he is without a doubt a welcomed return to the Vodacom Bulls,” the Bulls said in a statement.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Bulls in 2013, had a four-year stint at the Pretoria-based franchise before he left for Japan. He represented the franchise from Under-19 level and all the way up to Vodacom Super Rugby.

Jenkins has represented the Springboks once, in 2018 against Wales in Washington, DC, and also played for the South Africa ‘A’ side. He also featured for the Junior Springboks helping them win a bronze medal at the 2015 World Rugby U20 Championships.
