Kevin Anderson on Wednesday advanced to the quarterfinals of the Vienna Open following a straight set win over Spaniard Pablo Carreño Busta.
The former world number five defeated Carreño Busta 7-5, 6-1 in a match that lasted just under one-and-a-half hours.
Anderson put in a dominant performance firing 14 aces and winning nearly 90 percent of points on his first serve. He also converted four out of eight break points while saving two of the three break points he faced.
Carreño Busta began brightly, breaking Anderson in the very first game and then racing into a 2-0 lead. However, Anderson fought back and broke Carreño Busta in the sixth game to make it 3-3. With the set going on serve, Anderson then broke Carreño Busta in the 12th game converting his first set point to clinch it 7-5.
The second set was more straightforward with Anderson breaking Carreño Busta twice again in the second and sixth games to run away with it 6-1.
Anderson, a winner at the event in 2018, will next face Russian Daniil Medvedev.
