South African National Holiday In Honour Of Hector Pieterson

On the16th June 1976, a young South African named Hector Pieterson was shot dead by police during the Soweto riots. His death became the symbol of a resurgent struggle against apartheid rule – led by a younger generation. It’s now a National holiday in the country – Youth Day.Today’s youth face their own struggles.
