South Africa to host 2022 Women’s T20 World Cup

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday announced that South Africa will host the Women’s Twenty20 (T20) World Cup in 2022.
Details of the schedule and venue of the event are expected to be communicated in due course.
South Africa’s women’s team will automatically qualify as hosts while the seven highest-ranked countries in the ICC T20 team rankings (as of November 30, 2021) will also automatically qualify.
The ICC added that the final two teams will be confirmed at the Women’s T20 World Cup.
South Africa is currently participating in the 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia where it has reached the semifinals, along with hosts and four-time champions Australia, England and India.
The event in 2022 will be the eighth edition of the biennial international tournament.
This will be the first time since the 2007 men’s World T20 World Cup that South Africa will host a senior ICC tournament.
