At least 80 people have been arrested for looting of several foreign owned businesses in South Africa. The looting is feared to be a xenophobic attack.

Among the suspects arrested for attacking businesses in Grahamstown and Joza where 11 youth according to the Police Spokesman Captain Mali Govender

The suspects have charges of public violence.

The police are closely monitoring the situation plus maintain high visibility due to sporadic incidents of attacks still being reported.

“These acts of criminality will not be tolerated. We are adopting a zero tolerance approach to offenders who resort to any act of criminality.” Said Grahamstown Cluster Commander Brigadier Morgan Govender
