After years of civil war, Somalia is on the mend. To celebrate their growing peace Somalis turned up in huge numbers in Mogadishu to enjoy books written by fellow countrymen and women, to foster a reading culture in the East African country and celebrate their culture and heritage.
The 2nd annual Mogadishu Book Fair (MBF) which started yesterday and ends tomorrow hosted authors, scholars, poets, booksellers from all over the world as well as Somalis. One of the hosted home grown writer is Abdi Latif Ega, a Somali screen play writer based in the US writing about the double life of a Somali painter who is a door man by day and a painted by night rejected by the mainstream society.
The event also meant to expose young and up & coming authors to the industry received a lot of attention on twitter, here are some posts
