Somalia calls for resolution of the diplomatic row in the Gulf
Somalia takes a neutral stance on the Gulf crisis that has seen a number of Arab countries sever ties with Qatar. The East African nation has called on the Arab countries to settle their differences through dialogue through a recently shared statement by the Foreign Affairs ministry.
Somalia, a member of the Arab League, has called on the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to arbitrate in a dialogue that would resolve the dispute.
“Somalia as a member of both the Arab League and the organization of the Islamic Conference is ready to give a helping hand to find a solution to the dispute among the brotherly countries,” reads the statement.
Tensions with Qatar have generally revolved around its alleged support for political Islamic movements, such as the Muslim Brotherhood, as well as complaints about the Al Jazeera Media Network, which is based in Doha, reports Al Jazeera.
