At least 17 people have died in an accident involving a lorry and a bus in the west of the capital Lusaka in Zambia.

The accident occurred when the lorry cut in front of the bus, a police spokesperson said.

Fatal accidents are common on Zambian roads. Most of them are caused by overloaded vehicles or unroadworthy vehicles.
