The Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Wang Yi, met with Ahmadian, Iran’s Secretary of Supreme National Security Council, in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Monday.

Wang affirmed that China views China-Iran relations from a strategic perspective.

He pointed out that China will continue to support Iran in safeguarding national sovereignty and national dignity, pursuing a development path that suits its national conditions, safeguarding national security, and will also oppose external forces interfering in Iran’s internal affairs.

The Chinese diplomat said China is willing to strengthen exchanges with the Iranian side on the implementation of the China-Iran comprehensive cooperation plan, promote the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” cooperation, and help the Iranian side improve people’s livelihood and promote economic and social development.

On his part, Ahmadian said that Iran attaches great importance to the Iran-China comprehensive strategic partnership.

He added that Iran hopes that the two sides will strengthen dialogue and communication, tap the potential of cooperation that can be deepened in the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” and other fields, so as to create more benefits to the people of the two countries.
