The director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Wang Yi, met with the Chief Advisor of the Presidency of Brazil, Celso Luiz Nunes Amorim, in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Monday.

Wang pointed out that China and Brazil share common strategic interests.

He added that China is willing to work with Brazil to deepen strategic mutual trust, expand strategic cooperation, further synergize the Belt and Road Initiative and Brazil’s development strategies such as the re-industrialization scheme and Growth Acceleration Program, explore more common interests and cooperation growth points, and make China-Brazil relations a model of solidarity and cooperation between emerging markets and developing countries, jointly promote human development and progress, and make efforts towards the goal of building a community with a shared future.

On his part, Amorim noted that China is an important strategic partner of Brazil, and the all-round cooperation between the two countries has been fruitful.

He further affirmed that Brazil is ready to work with China to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen strategic communication and coordination, and deepen practical cooperation in various areas such as aviation, automobiles, high-tech, green economy, and climate change, so as to achieve the effect of “one plus one more than two”.
