School closes in central Mozambique after students test positive for COVID-19
A technical school in Mozambique’s central province Manica was temporarily closed on Monday, after two students tested positive for COVID-19.
According to a report from Radio Mozambique, health authorities have isolated the positive cases and collected samples of 65 students from the institute located in the district of Vanduzi, and the disinfecting work of the school’s infrastructure is already underway.
“We have sensitized and provided psychosocial support to the individuals who tested positive and we are currently waiting for the testing results of the samples collected from their contacts,” the provincial director of health services Xavier Isidoro told RM.
After five months of closure, face-to-face lessons for technical institutions including universities were allowed to resume from September 1 in Mozambique, as part of the government’s schedule of phased school reopening during the pandemic.
