Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in Poland on Saturday ahead of the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), otherwise known as COP24.

The 75-year-old will join tens of heads of state and governments for the ceremonial opening of the conference, which is scheduled to kick off on Monday.

President Buhari is expected to deliver a speech at the gathering, highlighting Nigeria’s commitment to addressing climate change by implementing the goals set out in its nationally determined contributions.

The COP24 gathering is expected to finalize the rule book in the implementation of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change reached in Dedember 2015 in France.

President Buhari was accompanied to Poland by a high level delegation including ministers and other top government officials.
