Odion Ighalo proud to be first Nigerian to sign for Manchester United

Former Super Eagles striker Odio Ighalo has expressed his delight at being the first Nigerian to sign for Manchester United.
The 30-year-old signed for the Red Devils in on loan from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua on the last day of the January transfer window.
“I’m really proud. I’m happy because people keep sending me messages, I know that this is very big, you’re going to be the first Nigerian to play for United, it’s a good record for you in your career, I know that,” Ighalo told manutd.com
Upon signing for Manchester United Ighalo was praised by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who said the Nigerian is a proven goalscorer.
The former Watford striker has been added to the Red Devils’ Europa League squad to take part in the Round of 32 onwards.
Ighalo is a life-long Manchester United fan and has even revealed supporting the club during his stint at Watford.
The Nigerian’s first game may be against Chelsea on Monday as United seek to close in on a European spot.
The Red devils are currently placed seventh with 35 points from 25 games, two points behind fifth placed Tottenham Hotspur and 6 points behind fourth placed Chelsea.
Ighal is confident in his ability to help United improve their position.
“Well, there’s not much to describe about me. I’m very fast, I’m skillful, I’m strong, I have good techniques, so I can find my way in the field of play, so, when I get started, I just have to keep going and gel with the team, so that everything will work out very fine,” he said.
