Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari gave away two aircrafts from the Presidential Air fleet to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for use in the North East Nigeria in battling the Boko haram terrorists reports the Daily Post.
The two aircrafts from the fleet of ten aircrafts are fitted with ballistics defence capabilities and equipped against certain forms of missile attacks.
“One of the helicopters will be configured and deployed as an air ambulance, while second will be deployed as a troop carrier. The two helicopters will be immediately reconfigured and deployed to the northeast for the use of Nigerian troops.” the Chief of Air Staff, Sadique Abubakar said after receiving the planes from the office of the president
The federal government of Nigeria had earlier put up two aircraft from the presidential fleet for sale to reduce the flooet in order to cut down on costs.
The two aircraft handed over to the NAF in Abuja are Agusta Westland AW101 helicopters.
