Nigerian authorities are searching for several students and teachers taken in the country’s first kidnapping involving school children of the year.

The kidnappers grabbed six students, three teachers, and their bus driver as the group returned home to Ekiti state from a field trip on Monday night.

Security agents say they as of now, no ransom demands have been issued.

Nigeria’s northwestern region has been plagued by banditry, kidnappings, and other criminal activities in recent years.

Local authorities had ordered a comprehensive manhunt for the abductors.
