The Nigerian army says it has uncovered a plot by Islamist terror group Boko Haram to attack the country during Ramadan.

According to the Nigerian Defence Headquarters, the group has been planning to set off several bombs.

Sunday’s statement comes after at least 32 Nigerian soldiers were killed in a clash with suspected fighters from Boko Haram along the Niger Nigerian border.

Nigerian authorities are calling on citizens to be watchful of strange persons and suspicious packages – especially around places of worship.

The Department of Defence is also calling for a boost of security and surveillance at places of worship during Ramadan, and has assured ordinary Nigerians that it’s doing its part in reducing the risk of terrorism in the country.
