Morocco, Egypt and Mali Olympics group opponents confirmed
The reigning CAF Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations champions Morocco will face Argentina and Ukraine in Group B at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
An Asian nation that finishes third at the Asian Cup will complete the four-team group established following Wednesday’s draw for the men’s football competition.
Morocco kick off their campaign against South American powerhouse Argentina before facing the Asian representatives before concluding their group action against Ukraine.
Egypt were drawn in Group C against Spain, Dominican Republic and the runners up of the Asian Cup (to be determined).
Mali are in Group D that consists of Paraguay, Israel and the Asian Cup champions (to be determined).
Guinea could ensure Africa sends four teams to the Games if they beat the fourth-placed finishers at the Asian Cup.
Under that scenario, Guinea would join hosts France, USA and New Zealand in Group A.
France will take on the USA in the competition opener on July 24 at the Vélodrome stadium in Marseille.
