Morocco aims at attracting Chinese investors to its auto sector

Read < 1 minute

One of Africa’s biggest car manufacturing powerhouses Morocco is taking part in this year’s Shanghai Auto Show.

The delegation is led by the country’s minister for industry, trade and digital economy, Moulay Hafid Elalamy. Morocco’s investment and development agency is also showcasing opportunities in the country’s auto industry and infrastructure development. Its aim is to attract more Chinese investment into Morocco’s auto industry, which is the country’s number one export sector. Elalamy says a more relaxed visa policy between China and Morocco has seen a greater number of Chinese visitors to the country.

He hopes it will boost trade between the two countries, as China pushes ahead with the Belt and Road initiative.
