Moroccan navy intercepts 168 sub-Saharan migrants off Atlantic coast
The Moroccan navy intercepted 168 undocumented migrants from a boat off the Atlantic coast near the port of Dakhla on Friday, the Moroccan Royal Armed Forces said in a statement on Saturday.
A navy unit in charge of coastal surveillance intercepted the boat heading to the Canary Islands, a Spanish archipelago off the coast of northwestern Africa, the statement said.
The migrants, including six women and eight minors, were from sub-Saharan Africa. They have been handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for processing after receiving medical care, it added.
