More Africans can access the internet if Phone prices are reduced

More than half of Africa’s population cannot access the internet due to high prices of acquiring a smartphone or accessing the internet

Mobile sector will decline in growth irrespective of the rapid growth being currently witnessed in Africa due high cost of mobile phones and accessories plus the high data prices according to a report presented at the Mobile Africa 360 conference

Telecommunications companies are looking for ways to cut down on pricing of phones, but most importantly reduction of call tariffs and data services as well. This has led to partnerships in development of infrastructure which can be shared among the companies to drive down prices of calls and data access.
