Read < 1 minute

Majorelle gardens is one of the oldest gardens in the Muslim world. The garden is the former home and current resting place of Yves Saint Laurent.

The garden, open to the public since 1947, has a large collection of plants and “floral exotica”, which were acquired since the 1920s from five Continents.

The garden was named after French artist Jacques Majorelle, who first visited Marrakesh in 1917.

He purchased a small plot of land and introduced various plant species from all over the world.

The commonly seen plants are cacti, palms and bamboo. It is very well laid out with pools with lilies, and pathways. The garden is comprised of 12 acres with a small museum.
