Libya appoints Ali El Margini as coach of national football team

Ali El Margini was appointed the new coach of Libya’s national team, the Libyan Football Federation (LFF) announced.

El Margini replaces Tunisian Faouzi Benzarti who left the position following coronavirus pandemic.

Benzarti, who had previously coached Libya between 2007 and 2009, had been reappointed as national team coach in October 2019 on a six-month renewable contract.

The LFF also confirmed the appointments of Ahmed Senfaz as assistant coach and former international goalkeeper Moftah Ghazala as the goalkeepers’ coach.

El Margini had previously been an assistant to Benzarti as well as former Libya coach Abdulhafith Arbish in 2014.

El Margini’s first assignments with be back-to-back 2021 AFCON qualifiers against Equatorial Guinea on November 9 in Tunis and November 17 in Malabo.
