The last group of Japanese troops has left the United Nations peacekeeping mission.

The 40 men and women are the last remaining members of Japan’s 350-strong military contingent.

They’ve been based in Juba for the past five years, helping to rebuild infrastructure in the war-torn country.

The withdrawal will ease political pressure on Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who had promised in March to bring the troops home and vowed to resign if any of them were killed.
