Kenya records 931 new cases of COVID 19

Kenya’s health ministry on Sunday confirmed 931 new cases of COVID-19 from 6,691 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the number of confirmed positive infections to 49,721.

So far Kenya has tested 659,920 samples since March.

The health ministry said the new cases included 896 Kenyans and 35 foreigners.

The cases are made up of 615 males and 316 females.

The Ministry of Health also announced 333 patients recovered from the virus with 256 on the home-based care program while 77 were discharged from various hospitals bringing the total number of recoveries to 34,209.

The ministry also stated that there are 18 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 49 on supplementary oxygen, while 16 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

A total of 1,198 are admitted in various health facilities while 3,437 are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

The death toll from the virus has also risen to 902 after six more patients succumbed to the virus.
