Kenya and Ethiopia announced their teams for the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing 2025, naming a mix of seasoned champions and emerging talent.

Kenya will send a standout team of ten athletes that includes Noah Kibet, who claimed silver in the 800m at the 2022 edition. At just 20 years old, Kibet is set to compete in his third World Indoor Championships. Vivian Chebet is another key athlete to make the cut. Also representing Kenya is Susan Lokayo Ejore, the Kenyan indoor mile record holder.

Ethiopia has also selected a strong lineup, headlined by the Olympic silver medalist Tsige Duguma, who won the women’s 800m title in Glasgow last year. Alongside her is Freweyni Hailu, the 1500m gold medallist from the previous World Indoor Championships.

World 10,000m champion Gudaf Tsegay, the world leader in the 1500m, is also part of the squad. Tsegay recently clocked 3:53.92 in Torun, the second-fastest time in history, only behind her own indoor world record.

Samuel Tefera, a two-time World Indoor 1500m champion, is also part of the squad, while Olympic silver medallist Berihu Aregawi will compete in the 3000m.
