Kenyan athletes won both men and women titles in the Chicago marathon in the USA

Kenya’s Dickson Chumba won the gold medal in the men category followed by Sammy Kitwara and Sammy ndungu who wone Silver and bronze respectively. Dickson crossed the finishing line at  2 hours, 9 minutes and 2 seconds.

For the women, Florence Kiplagat took the lead at 40km to win the gold at 2hours 23minutes 33 seconds , followed by Ethiopians Yebrgual Melese and Birhane Dibaba taking the second and third places.

The race was however slower than last years following the authorities decision to remove pace setters in order to reduce cases of doping.
